| Question: |
I need Double Image to copy folders and files off-site to a remote location. |
| Answer: |
Files can be securely copied to off-site locations when using the Windows supplied WebDAV protocol. Secure FTP can also be used when copying to remote sites that may not have a Windows platform.
Setting up a WebDAV publishing directory on your server is as straightforward as setting up a virtual directory through IIS Manager. After setting up a publishing directory, users who have been assigned the correct rights can copy to the server and manipulate files in the directory. WebDAV is provided with Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 family systems.

Using the WebDAV protocol provides for copying security permissions properly to the remote computer. WebDAV on Windows systems provides excellent security encryption at the source level, the transport level and the target level.
If you prefer using Double Image or Double Image-O to copy files to a remote site and use a secure FTP connection, then we recommend using WebDrive to provide the remote connections.
FTP is useful for copying a small number of files or a few large files while WebDAV is useful for copying all or many files. With FTP, the remote site can be any platform, like UNIX, Linux, Windows or many others.
Both WebDAV and WebDrive create logical drive letters for each remote connection. Double Image and Double Image-O access remote folders via the logical drive letters.
