Question:   Can your product do a compressed image backup of multiple servers to a network storage device?
Answer:   Double Image and Double Image-O are folder/file copy programs. Both can do compression [native Windows compression - as if you had opened properties on a folder and selected Compress in Windows Explorer].

Both products copy files in Windows native file format, meaning that the files are not all put into a single .zip type of file, but are cloned exactly from source to target location.

Open files/in-use files and RAID, SCSI drives can be copied while you still use Windows. The storage filter drivers installed with Double Image-O permit Double Image-O to work hand-in-hand with Windows storage IO, and with little processor utilization (although when using the Verify Option a bit by bit comparison of source to target file comparison is done and CPU utilization can go from approximately 8% to 35%-60%).

All folders/files on one or more drives can be copied in a single backup session. Note that Double Image does not create a MBR (master boot record) on to the target location yet -- we are working to do this for true drive cloning.

A copy of Double Image-O needs to be installed on each server because the storage filter drivers are working in ms. Reads on disk sector blocks about to be written by Windows (this cannot be done over a network for multiple machines -- no snapshot backup can do this). With an install on each server, then the files can be copied/pushed to any local, external, or private network drive, including NAS devices.
